Bereavement Services

Coping with bereavement and grief in Wakefield

The death of a loved one can be one of the hardest things you ever experience. Grief is very personal and it can take some time to come to terms with how you feel. The emotions you experience might feel overwhelming at times. Talking to a bereavement professional is often a good way to start feeling better.

The Hospice Bereavement Service

This service is available to:

  • carers, family members and friends whose loved one was known to any of our hospice services;

  • over 18 years old; and

  • have been bereaved longer than four months  and up to eight years.

  We offer support after four months, which is purely to provide space for your grief and it can be more helpful after this time to have support.

All our staff are fully trained in bereavement and all face to face sessions are at The Prince of Wales Hospice. What  we offer:

Bereavement listeners

Our trained listeners are volunteers who provide 6 sessions, on the telephone.

Bereavement trainee counsellors

They provide 12 sessions. This is either by phone, online or face to face.

Groups

We do have groups every so often so please refer to the website for updates.
