Fundraising highlights: June’s amazing community support!

16 July 2026

June was another incredible month of community spirit, with local businesses, supporters, community groups and individuals coming together to raise vital funds for The Prince of Wales Hospice.

Whether taking on personal challenges, organising fundraising events or making generous donations, every contribution is helping us continue supporting local patients and their families.

Here are just some of the fantastic fundraising highlights from across the month.

CFM Sponsored Walk

Turning personal loss into lasting support, 17 members of the CFM team completed a sponsored walk in memory of colleagues Carl, Pat and Stephen. Choosing to support a local cause close to their hearts, the team raised an incredible £3,000 for The Prince of Wales Hospice. Their generosity will help us continue providing specialist care and support to local patients and families.

Northside Truck and Van Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

Battling wet, windy weather didn’t stop the team at Northside Truck and Van from taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in memory of Alyson. Twenty-four participants tackled the challenge, with every person completing at least one peak and the fastest team conquering all three in just over eight hours. Together, they’ve raised more than £4,500 to support local Hospice care.

Prince of Wales Hospice Darts & Dominoes League

A fantastic £6,000 donation from the Prince of Wales Hospice Darts & Dominoes League is helping bring our Nurses Wishlist Appeal to life. Their ongoing support will help fund vital equipment for patient care, making a real difference to the comfort and wellbeing of those using our services.

Pontefract Cue Club Charity Raffle

An evening of friendly competition and community spirit has resulted in an incredible £800 for the Hospice. Thanks to the generosity of Pontefract Cue Club and local businessman Pete Fisher of P8 FSR Cues, a charity raffle brought people together while raising vital funds for local Hospice care.

York to Castleford Challenge Walk

Nine hours, soaring temperatures and an unexpected road closure couldn’t stop this determined group from reaching the finish line. Michaela White, alongside Kaye, Mia, Becky, Lorna, Gemma and Maddie, completed their walk from York to Castleford in memory of Michaela’s mum, raising an incredible £2,173 for the Hospice.

Ison Harrison & PWH Golf Open

Friendly competition met fantastic fundraising at this year’s Ison Harrison & PWH Golf Open. Businesses, supporters and volunteers came together at Pontefract & District Golf Club for a memorable day of golf, networking and fundraising, with every swing helping to support local patients and families.

Charity Hyrox Sim

Fitness became fundraising as participants pushed themselves through a Charity Hyrox Sim organised by Jordan Storey at The Trainstation Gym. The event raised £545, proving that every challenge, no matter how it’s tackled, can help make a lasting difference for local Hospice care.
