From golf days and sponsored challenges to generous grants and businesses supporting our events, July has been a brilliant month of fundraising for The Prince of Wales Hospice.
Across the month, our local community has continued to find new and creative ways to support Hospice care, with businesses, fundraisers and organisations coming together to make a real difference to local patients and families.
Here are some of the fundraising highlights from July:
The Yorkshire Broker Walk, Run, Ride Challenge
A huge thank you to Martin at The Yorkshire Broker for taking part in the Walk, Run, Ride Challenge and raising an amazing £3,710 for the Hospice. His fundraising will help us continue providing vital care and support to local patients and families.
Find a Golf Break golf day
Simon and Katherine from Find a Golf Break invited us along to their recent golf day at Pontefract Golf Club, where players took part in a range of games while raising money for the Hospice. Simon and Katherine then generously topped up the funds to make an incredible £1,000 donation.
Sovereign Health Care community programme
We’re incredibly grateful to Sovereign Healthcare Community Programme for awarding us a £2,200 grant towards our Wellbeing Services. Following on from their support for our Physiotherapy services last year, this year’s grant will help fund craft materials, complementary therapy materials and our Ducks in a Row booklets for future planning.
CEF golf day
Teams from CEF’s Castleford, Wakefield, Barnsley and Mexborough branches came together with staff, customers and suppliers for a fantastic golf day at Normanton Golf Club, choosing The Prince of Wales Hospice as their charity. The event raised an incredible £1,577.50, with the evening also giving us an opportunity to share more about the work of the Hospice.
Ison Harrison & PWH Golf Open
Our annual Ison Harrison & PWH Golf Open was another huge success, raising an incredible £11,600 for local Hospice care. More than 20 teams came together at Pontefract & District Golf Club for a day of friendly competition, networking and fundraising. Following the success of this year’s event, we’re also delighted to have confirmed a second Golf Open at Darrington Golf Club for 2027.
Sunset Stroll hosts
We’d like to say a huge thank you to G3 Remarketing for supporting our Sunset Stroll by hosting the event and providing the Event HQ. Their support helped us bring the community together for a special evening of fundraising and remembrance.
Family Fun Day 2026
Family Fun Day brought the community together at Pontefract Park for a brilliant day of entertainment, activities, stalls, food and plenty of fun. From the Mayor of Wakefield enjoying the spinning teacups to the many people who came along to support us, it was fantastic to see the event so well supported. A huge thank you to our car boot sellers, stallholders, entertainers, local businesses, volunteers and everyone working behind the scenes who helped make the day possible. We’d also like to thank Hannah Davies – Personal Estate Agent, our event sponsor, for their support.
Every fundraiser, donation, grant and business partnership makes a difference, helping us continue providing compassionate care and support to local patients and their families.
