7-year-old Ella’s thoughtful idea is making hospice visits brighter for children.
Ella Wilson is kind, bubbly, and full of heart. When Ella’s great-grandad spent time at the hospice, her family saw firsthand the care and kindness that make families feel supported. Sadly, he died several months ago, but the experience left a lasting impression on Ella and her family.
Ella had a spark of inspiration about how she could give back and help the hospice. She came up with the idea to create activity packs for children visiting the hospice, something fun to brighten what can sometimes be a difficult time and help create special memories with loved ones. Each pack is filled with colourful, creative projects like:
- Bracelet kits with vibrant beads and elastic cords
- Make-your-own bookmarks and cards for sharing messages of love
- Decorate-your-own tree decorations to bring festive cheer
Her goal? To make people smile.
Her mum, Alison, has been a helping hand to the hospice for some time, too. Through her business, Polliella Designs, Alison often creates beautiful signs for fundraising events, free of charge, because giving back matters to them.
“I’m still really overwhelmed by the care and compassion the Hospice gave us all,” Alison told us.
“My grandad was always such a generous man, and I know he’d be proud of Ella for wanting to give back.”
And Ella is not stopping! Her plans to sell these packs at her school’s Christmas fair, donating all profits to the hospice. It is a wonderful way to keep giving back.
Ella’s kindness reminds us that even the smallest hands can create the biggest smiles.
