Centenary Walk raises £8,685 for The Prince of Wales Hospice and Castleford Tigers Foundation

13 October 2026

Castleford Tigers supporter Glyn Jepson has raised an impressive £8,685 through his Centenary Walk, a 100-mile fundraising challenge celebrating 100 years of Castleford Tigers.

The funds were shared between our Hospice and Castleford Tigers Foundation, with the Hospice receiving £5,211.

Glyn set off on the five-day challenge with a guard of honour from pupils at Castleford Academy before embarking on the 100-mile journey from Castleford Tigers’ Wheldon Road stadium to Liverpool’s Hill Dickinson Stadium. The walk culminated at Magic Weekend, rugby league’s annual showcase event, where Castleford Tigers took on local rivals Wakefield Trinity. Along the way, supporters, ex-players and club officials joined sections of the route and showed their support through generous donations.

Glyn said: “After completing my Tour de Cas challenge in 2022, I wanted to take on another fundraising challenge that would bring people together while supporting two organisations that mean a great deal to our community. As a lifelong Castleford Tigers supporter, the Centenary Walk felt like the perfect way to celebrate the club’s 100th anniversary. Covering 100 miles over five days was a real challenge, but the support from people along the route kept me going from start to finish.”

Adrian Greenwood, Fundraising Manager here at the Hospice, said: “What Glyn has achieved is incredible. The £4,588.50 raised for the Hospice could cover the cost of caring for a patient on our Inpatient Unit for more than a week, including specialist clinical care, catering and housekeeping support. The challenge not only celebrated Castleford Tigers’ centenary year but also demonstrated the strength of community support across the district, raising vital funds for local people receiving Hospice care.”

As an independent charity, support from fundraisers like Glyn helps ensure we can continue providing compassionate care, free of charge, to local people and their families.
