August was another brilliant month of fundraising and community support for The Prince of Wales Hospice. From fundraising challenges and charity events to grants and long-term partnerships, there were lots of different ways people supported our Hospice throughout the month.
Ackworth PramFest was another fantastic day of fundraising, fun and community spirit for the Hospice.
With brilliant costumes, creative prams, food, stalls and live entertainment, there was plenty happening throughout the day, making it a great event for everyone involved. A huge well done to everyone who took part, supported the event and helped make Ackworth PramFest such a fantastic day.
£2,200 boost for our Wellbeing Services
Sovereign Healthcare Community Programme donated £2,200 towards our Wellbeing Services, following a grant last year for our Physiotherapy services. Sovereign has supported us since 1998, including helping to kickstart our Wellbeing Services during COVID-19. This year’s grant will help fund craft materials, complementary therapy materials and our Ducks in a Row booklets for future planning.
Taking on Mount Kazbek for the Hospice
Simon King took on the incredible challenge of climbing Mount Kazbek in Georgia in memory of his partner’s brother, Steven Crane, who was cared for here at the Hospice. Simon has now raised an incredible £3,862.50 against his £500 target, turning a huge personal challenge into vital funds for the Hospice.
£2,418 raised by our friends at Sysco
Longstanding supporter Sysco presented the Hospice with a donation of £2,418, raised through its corporate fundraising, including its annual Brakes Family BBQ. Sysco also regularly supports our events by providing refreshments, and we’re incredibly grateful for their continued support.
Sarah runs 10K in memory of Helen
Sarah Ellis took on the York 10K in memory of her friend Helen, who was cared for at the Hospice. Sarah was joined by her sister and friend Gemma, who all wore yellow tops in Helen’s honour. As Sarah approached the finish line, a song that reminded her of Helen played, making the final stretch even more special. Sarah, her sister and Gemma crossed the finish line hand in hand, and she went on to raise an incredible £2,300 for the Hospice.
Ison Harrison backs our Golf Days
Ison Harrison Solicitors has extended its Platinum sponsorship of our Golf Day for 2026 and 2027, supporting two Golf Days each year. Their continued partnership will help bring local businesses together while raising vital funds for the Hospice.
Family Fun Day returns to Pontefract Park
Family Fun Day returned to Pontefract Park for a fantastic day of fun, entertainment and fundraising. There was plenty going on throughout the day, with live entertainment, activities, food, stalls and a car boot sale bringing families and the local community together. A huge thank you to everyone who came along, took part and helped make Family Fun Day such a brilliant day for the Hospice.
