Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or just thinking about getting involved, Lisa is here to make sure you feel valued and supported every step of the way.
Lisa’s mission is to strengthen community connections, welcome new volunteers and be the go-to support for our incredible team.
Lisa explains: “Volunteers are absolutely crucial to us here at the Hospice. We certainly couldn’t run our services without them. But it’s not just about having people willing to give their time for free. What’s equally valuable is the diverse knowledge and experience each volunteer brings. They each contribute something unique to our community.”
“From the volunteer perspective, it’s an incredible opportunity to be part of something meaningful, gain valuable experience, and support a worthy cause. Many of our volunteers tell me they get a profound sense of purpose from their work here. That’s what makes this role so special, watching people find fulfilment while making a real difference in others’ lives.”
Lisa, Volunteer Coordinator
“Building community engagement is very important to me. I attend career fairs and events and have partnerships with local groups and organisations, such as New College, Step Up and Shaw Trust. I have built a good connection with the Job Centre – they send people to us who are looking for experience or ways to get involved. ”
“I have several goals I’m working towards. One of them is to implement volunteer benefits; it’s important to show our appreciation for their dedication.”
Lindsay Hamer, Director of People and Culture said: “Our volunteers have always been an important and very valued part of our Hospice team. We couldn’t deliver all our services to the quality we are able to without the help of our volunteers. Being able to recruit Lisa as our Volunteer Coordinator has been a fantastic opportunity and one which has allowed us to take some great strides forward in the way we recruit and support our volunteers. We’re currently at the very beginning of our new developments to enrich our volunteer experience and we are excited to work with our volunteers and wider teams to find ways to widen our volunteer experience further as we move forward”.
