Between 2 and 6 people can take part in each team, at a cost of £10 per person. One team member must remain in the pram at all times during the route, although this can be swapped along the way. To complete the race, all team members must cross the finish line together.
A “pram” is essentially anything on wheels that someone can sit in and be pushed along in – think along the lines of a wheelchair or similar. You can be as creative as you like with this, we’ve even seen a bathtub on wheels before!
While we can’t guarantee that a pram will be available, our friendly Ackworth Pramfest team will always do their best to help. If you need one, please feel free to drop us a message and we’ll see if we can source something for you to use.
Fancy dress isn’t essential, but it’s definitely encouraged and always adds to the fun! We love seeing all the brilliant costumes on the day, and you could even be in with a chance of winning our ‘Best Fancy Dress’ trophy.
Taking part in Ackworth Pramfest is a fantastic way to come together, have fun and support local hospice care at the same time. We would be so grateful for any fundraising contributions you and your team are able to make, no matter the amount.
Every pound raised helps us continue caring for local patients and supporting their families when they need us most. As a guide, if each team could raise around £500, this could help cover the cost of patient care for one person for one day.
The route is around 2 miles long. It starts at Carr Bridge Playing Fields, Barnsley Rd, Ackworth, Pontefract WF7 7ND, takes to the streets of Ackworth via some of the local pubs on route where you will collect a drink* before carrying on and finishing at the Ackworth Cricket Club, Wakefield Rd, Ackworth, Pontefract WF7 7DF. Those attending but not taking part can watch the race on the route before making their way to the Ackworth Cricket Club.
*soft drinks/water/alcohol available at each stop
We have a full day lined up and something for all the family to enjoy. Teams who have taken part can park up their pram once they have crossed the finish line and relax for the rest of the day.
The race itself starts at 12pm from Carr Bridge, once back at the Ackworth Cricket Club, we will have live music throughout the day and will aim to be finished from about 9pm, there will be rides, stalls raffles and an auction. Feel free to bring something to sit on
Those who are taking part in the run will already have access to the cricket club, everyone else attending including spectators, family and friends will need to buy a £2 wristband (children under 5 go free) which can either be purchased before the event at one of our dedicated purchase points, or alternatively can be purchased on the gate*
*subject to availability and depending on how many sell before the day, to guarantee your entry, we would recommend you purchasing beforehand, which will also save time gaining access too.
We will have food vendors on site serving a variety of options and will have a bar available to purchase soft drinks and alcoholic drinks from the Ackworth Cricket Club.
Dogs are allowed to come, however please ensure that they remain on a lead throughout the day.
No parking is available on site, if you are parking in the local area, please be considerate.
