Seven‑year‑old Ella Wilson has brought a burst of colour and kindness to our Hospice with her handmade activity packs for children visiting loved ones.
Inspired by the compassionate care her great‑grandad received last year, Ella wanted to create something that would bring comfort and smiles to families during emotional moments.
With help from her mum, Alison, and cousin Poppy, Ella designs each pack with care. They include bracelet‑making kits, handmade bookmarks, and colourful seasonal crafts, all created to spark joy and help young visitors feel supported. Ella and Poppy recently delivered a new batch of Easter packs to the Hospice, proudly sharing their creations with staff and families.
So far, the family has donated over 100 activity packs, giving 100 children the chance to make special memories and spark their creativity. They continue to make and sell the packs through Alison’s small business, Polliella Designs, with every penny of profit donated to the Hospice. At Christmas, they raised £202, and they’re excited to keep growing their fundraising throughout the year.
We just wanted to make people smile in memory of Grandad.
Mum Alison added: “As a family, we can’t ever thank the Hospice enough for what they did. I think about it every day. My grandad passed away with me and my sister by his side, in the most peaceful surroundings, with the highest level of care and dignity. I know he’d be so proud of Ella and Poppy for wanting to give back.”
Ella’s creativity is already lifting spirits, and the Hospice is deeply grateful for her kindness. The community is encouraged to support her ongoing fundraising. To learn more or get involved, visit www.facebook.com/PolliellaDesigns
