Katy Powell’s wish has been honoured in the most heartfelt way. Though Katy is sadly no longer with us, her family and local community have come together to fulfil her wish of supporting our Hospice. Thanks to their incredible efforts and the support of the Matthew22 Fund, they have raised an amazing £10,525.
Katy spent her final weeks at our Hospice. The mother of four and her loved ones received exceptional care and compassion when she arrived at the hospice just ten weeks after her devastating diagnosis. The hospice provided comfort, dignity, and peace during the most difficult time of their lives.
“We can’t put into words how much we appreciate the hospice and the team.”
Katy’s fundraising appeal began while she was receiving palliative care. Her goal was to raise £10,000 to help other families experience the same support. Today, that goal has been surpassed, thanks to the generosity of friends, family, the wider community, and the Matthew22 Fund, which partnered with Katy’s family to ensure every penny raised will go directly to the Hospice as a grant.
Lydia Puntas Salas, our Individual Giving Fundraiser, said: “The funds will help more families access the specialist care and wellbeing services offered by the hospice. Katy’s legacy will live on through this incredible achievement.”
“On behalf of The Prince of Wales Hospice, I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and supported Katy’s wish during such a difficult time. Your kindness has made a lasting difference.”
