Fundraising highlights: January’s generous support

27 February 2026
January has been filled with generosity, community spirit and some truly inspiring fundraising.

You helped raise over £107,000, which is a brilliant start to the year! Here are just a few of the wonderful things our supporters have been up to:

Savvy Park Runnrz Festive Run Raises £1,166.75

A huge thank you to the fantastic Savvy Park Runnrz who laced up just before Christmas for their festive charity run in aid of the Hospice.
Thanks to entry fees, plus extra fundraising from runners Oprah Robinson and Dee Billingham, an incredible £1,166.75 has been raised so far.
It was wonderful to see so many people taking part and even better to see so much festive fancy dress on display! Your enthusiasm and energy mean so much to the families we support. 💛

Whitehouse Pub Donation Presentation

In January, we visited the Whitehouse Pub in Featherstone to receive a generous donation representing their fundraising efforts over the past 12 months.
We’re so grateful to everyone at the pub and within the local community who helped make this possible. Thank you for your continued kindness and support.

SEW Eurodrive’s Christmas Jumper Day Raises £422

A big festive thank you to SEW Eurodrive, who held a Christmas Jumper Day in December and raised a brilliant £422 for the Hospice.
Your creativity, colour, and generosity have helped us continue our vital care throughout the season. Thank you for making your fundraising as fun as it is impactful!

Solupak Raise £1,011 in 2025

We were delighted to visit Solupak for a cheque presentation following a fantastic year of fundraising, with a total of £1,011 raised in 2025.
Solupak are also a valued Club 5 member and Gold Sponsors of our upcoming 2026 Golf Day. We are so grateful for your continued partnership and dedication.
A message from Helen, Managing Director:
“We’re incredibly proud to have supported The Prince of Wales Hospice and to have raised over £1,000 for such an important cause. From a percentage of sales of our soluCLEAN all-purpose cleaner, to internal raffles and sweepstakes, Luke and I taking part in the Pontefract 10k and a fantastic team bake sale, this total reflects a real team effort. The generosity shown by our colleagues, customers and partners has been truly humbling, and we’re so grateful to everyone who helped us support the vital work the Hospice does for local families.”

Our annual Christmas Tree Collection was another great success thanks to an amazing community effort.
Together we:

  • Collected 627 trees

We appreciate every hour, every mile driven, and every tree lifted. Thank you for helping make this event such a success!

A Heartfelt Donation of Knitted Hearts

We were touched to receive a beautiful donation of knitted hearts from Debbie Aspland, lovingly created by her friends Bronwin and Alison from the Pontefract craft group.
Debbie’s stepdad was cared for at the Hospice in April 2025, and she shared how the compassion of the team brought comfort and peace during a difficult time. The knitted hearts placed in his hands, shared between family members, have remained a treasured memory.
Debbie hopes her donation brings the same comfort to others, describing the Hospice as “the best place on earth.” Thank you, Debbie, Bronwin, and Alison, for your kindness and thoughtfulness.

A Summer House Transformed in Memory of Gail Thwaite

We are incredibly grateful to Lee and Jason, owners of local business Matthews & Robinson, for their remarkable generosity this month. They have kindly donated all the materials needed to fully insulate one of our summer houses, transforming it into a comfortable, welcoming space for patients, families and our wellbeing team. This wonderful project was undertaken in loving memory of Gail Thwaite, and the materials donated were valued at around £1,200.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Travis Perkins of Pontefract, who support Lee and Jason as their suppliers and helped make this possible. This transformation will make a real difference and we do still have two further summer houses in need of the same care. If anyone is able to help or donate materials, we would be incredibly grateful.

Thank you to every individual, business, group and volunteer who has supported us this January. Your kindness helps us provide the personalised, specialist care our community depends on, and we couldn’t do it without you.
