Complementary Therapy

Complementary therapy services are available for Incare patients, their families and carers.

Complementary therapies have been shown to help make life more comfortable for patients by promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety. We offer a variety of treatments in our relaxing therapy rooms including:

  • Reiki or light touch
  • Massage
  • Aromatherapy
  • Relaxation, Sound and Touch
  • Visualisation

Our treatments should not be seen as a replacement for conventional medicines, but they can help, for example by promoting relaxation, reducing anxiety and providing time to let go of tensions.

Complementary therapies are also available for carers  as well as patients. Referrals to the service are available via Incare.

Our physiotherapists work with patients to understand what matters most in their everyday lives. They then help patients set realistic personal goals and work with them on rehabilitation to maximise each patient’s independence, choice and quality of life.

Our physiotherapists aims to address problems of balance and co-ordination, assessing the mobility of patients and providing walking aids if required. We will also aim to relieve pain and control other symptoms which can accompany a life limiting illness. When appropriate our physiotherapists will plan an individual exercise plan which aims to rehabilitate a patient’s movement.
