The Yorkshire Law Firm Challenge!

This year, local solicitor firm and Hospice Club 5 members, Ison Harrison, have come up with a fantastic campaign to raise funds for five charities and boost the health and wellbeing of their team.

The Yorkshire Law Firm Challenge, which kicked off earlier this year, encourages staff members to put their fitness levels to the test and clock up as many miles around the perimeter of Yorkshire as they can. Miles can be completed by walking, cycling, running and more, with funds raised divided amongst charities that the firm have a close relationship with, including The Prince of Wales Hospice.

Talking about the challenge, Claire Bentley, Marketing Coordinator at Ison Harrison said;

‘The way that the challenge works is that the firm puts money into the charity pot on the achievement of various milestones for example, for every virtual lap of Yorkshire that is completed which is 450 miles, when 50 people sign up to the challenge, when 100 people sign up, and when photos are sent in by staff of them exercising.

‘We also hope to raise a significant amount of funding in the way of donations from business contacts, family and friends.’

An impressive 66 members of the Ison Harrison team have already signed up and in the first three weeks they clocked up more than 2,000 miles through a variety of activities, including rowing.

With all things sports, there is bound to be some rivalry and with this challenge there is no exception.

‘We have some staff that have put in a staggering amount of miles virtually on their bikes. Our leading lady has notched up more than 350 miles on her bike already. There’s definitely a bit of healthy team rivalry. Our Commercial Law Team have set up their own running club and have their own team leader board.’

The challenge has given staff that are working from home a welcome break from their screens and the miles completed on lunch breaks are totting up nicely.

‘In these current times exercise is all that we have had to keep us going and so it has been a great time to launch an exercise related charity initiative. It has been great to see the photos that staff have taken whilst out and about in our beautiful countryside.’ Claire added.

We’re really grateful for the support by Ison Harrison, both with this challenge and beyond. The team support the Hospice in many ways including participation in fundraising events, being Club 5 members and supporting the Hospice’s previous Make a Will Weeks.
