The Inside Scoop: New structure in leadership The Inside Scoop: New structure in leadership
In April 2022, following the resignation of our Chief Executive earlier in the year, the Board of Trustees took the opportunity to review the leadership structure of the Hospice. Their decision was to create a Collaborative Chief Executive Office from the existing Senior Management Team. This move away from the traditional single Chief Executive Officer role signals the Board of Trustees commitment to leaders working together to develop the Hospice for the benefit of local people.

Each member of the ‘Collaborative’ has their areas and takes shared responsibility for the day to day running of the Hospice as well as progressing the Board of Trustees strategic ambitions.

This structure enables us to fully engage with the wider healthcare and voluntary sectors at both the Wakefield District and West Yorkshire levels. The healthcare landscape is changing and we are proud to play our part in creating a connected system that supports people in the District to live healthier and happier lives.

The transition from the Clinical Commissioning Groups to Health and Care Partnerships, with an increased emphasis on collaboration and partnership working, has created more work streams to ensure the provision of seamless, integrated health services for patients. We champion exceptional end of life care and equitable access to it at all relevant service planning and delivery groups with any one of us the six directors attending work force meetings, different care pathway working groups and voluntary sector partnership groups. We use our experience and expertise to influence service delivery so that everyone in the district can live well, age well and die well too.

We are excited to lead the Hospice in this way and strive to continue delivering exceptional loving care.
