Super supporter sets goals for 2021
Long-standing supporter Paul Green already has his sights set on his 2021 goals for helping the Hospice.

This year has been tough on everyone, especially for us at the Hospice who rely on fundraising and supporters to help keep our doors open. We’re so grateful for every donation during these difficult times, and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank Paul for all his hard work in helping the Hospice.

For years Paul has been filling collection tubs, and in the process has managed to raise thousands of pounds.

“The Hospice is something that is close to my heart,” he begins to explain.

“When I took Kellingley Social Club over I did a bit of a push in that we try and fill the collection tubs. Through the years I’ve raised a few thousand every year.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Paul hasn’t stopped his collections and has taken it upon himself to arrange a ‘Doorstep Challenge’ whereby he gives tubs to people who then fill them with their copper and loose change. He then arranges a pick-up and collects the donation box from the doorstep.

Paul is collecting donations for the Hospice through tubs and boxes and is planning on taking them to larger businesses in the hope they can get filled.

“I’m going collect some more tubs and hopefully drop them off at the bigger firms in Knottingley and I’m going to ask them to fill them. Hopefully we can get them filled in a week. It’s giving a helping hand to the charity and that’s why we do it.

“We are already looking into the future and what we can do. We usually have an annual festival in the summer and we would like to help the Hospice with that if everything is back to normal by next summer.

“I think that anyone who is doing good in our community boundary is phenomenal and the amount of people that will give is amazing. I think that the care that the patients at the Hospice receive is exceptional so I work on a policy where I always try and give something back. I always think, if people are giving to me, why not give something back.”

Currently Paul is making plans for next year’s summer fair at the Kellingley Social Club in the hope that he will still be able to deliver a fair to the community around the month of July.
Thank you for all your hard work and support Paul!
