October is Black History Month
October is Black History Month. A month that is both a celebration and a powerful reminder that Black history, culture and stories are essential to our present day.

Shining a light on Black history is important to growing stronger and recognising the contribution of Black people and honouring the achievements of the past generation.

The theme this month is ‘Time for Change: Action Not Words’. While celebrating the legacies of the past, we will continue to create a safe space for open and honest discussions, not just at work but in our community. We all have a collective responsibility to continue to fight for equality.

While we celebrate Black History Month, we should make sure we are challenging inequalities all year round and recognising the power and potential of equality, diversity and inclusion.

At the Hospice we believe that hospice care is for everyone. We want to reach people in every part of the community and we are committed to breaking down barriers so that race is not an obstacle to accessing the best end of life and palliative care.
