Thank you, Hospice Heroes!
This year, kids from across the Five Towns community have pulled on their capes and masks to raise money for the Hospice as the newest generation of Hospice Heroes.

To thank all of our young heroes who have supported the Hospice in recent times, we invited them to our exclusive Hospice Hero party.

Children, parents, staff and volunteers all came together to celebrate the incredible efforts our heroes have made in aid of the Hospice.

The event kicked off with games, music and special appearances by Ironman and JT! The Marvel superhero and the Castleford Tigers mascot joined the kids on the dancefloor, but things soon got heated between the two, resulting in a dance-off!

After all the tiring work on the dancefloor, our young heroes enjoyed some well-deserved treats. A buffet of sandwiches, pastries and special Hospice Hero cupcakes were provided by the Hospice catering team. The children loved their Hospice Hero cupcake flags.

During the award ceremony, each child was called up to receive their framed Hospice Hero certificate and a goodie bag, kindly donated by Haribo who sponsored the event.

Hospice patron, Duncan Wood and MP Yvette Cooper, came along to show their support. The two were in awe of the actions taken by each child to fundraise for the Hospice, from completing their Hospice Hero event packs to climbing Pen-Y-Ghent.

Around 30 children were given a Hospice Hero award, having collectively raised over £7,600, which is enough to run the whole Hospice for an entire day.

Rebecca Taylor, Community and Partnerships Fundraiser at  the Hospice, said;

“The event felt truly magical. We felt both proud and honoured to have these children as our Hospice supporters. Each and every child shone as Hospice Heroes – we are in awe of their commitments to fundraising.

“Everyone was in such high spirits, and some of the children were even planning their next fundraising adventure.”

We want to say a massive thank you to all of our Hospice Heroes for their amazing contributions, and we can’t wait to see what you all do next!
