Fundraising highlights: December’s incredible community support
Once again, we are incredibly grateful for the outstanding support we received from our community in December. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all those who participated in events and helped generate critical funding for our Hospice. Here are just some of the highlights from December:

Chocolate and biscuits donation
We put out a call to our supporters to help with gifts for our staff, patients and their families. Our community rallied together, including businesses such as G3, and donated a lot of chocolate and biscuits so we were able to provide presents for everyone. Thank you!

Castleford Tigers and Milestone helped set up for Light Up A Life
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Castleford Tigers and Milestone for helping us with the set up for our Light Up a Life event at the Hospice. They tackled the marquee and helped lay the flooring and lighting in our gardens.

Pontefract Scooter Association
The Scooter association have raised over £2,000 from their end of year raffle!

Festive Florals
We’d like to say thank you to Michelle Grainger for hosting her annual Festive Florals event. She has raised an amazing £1,131.09 through raffling her floral demonstrations, various stalls and refreshments. Michelle has run this for several years and it is a great way to start getting into the festive spirit. Thank you to everyone who attended, to those who volunteered on the evening and to Michelle for organising.

Keith Carter – Memorial Darts Tournament
In November, organisers from the Green Bowling Club in Airedale ran their second darts tournament in memory of Keith Carter who passed away at the Hospice. Keith used to love playing darts, so this has been a wonderful tribute to him. They raised an amazing £901.90. Thank you to everyone at the Green Bowling Club for arranging the tournament and to everyone who attended in Keith’s memory.

Leah Sharp
A massive thank you to Leah Sharp for her wonderful fundraising efforts in 2024. So far she has raised an incredible £250 through challenging herself this year and doing the Dragon Boat Race, Leeds Running Festival 5K, Run Roundhay 10k & The York 10K, all of which have been done in memory of her grandma Irene with whom the hospice cared for in her final weeks. Not only has Leah chosen to take part in these challenges this year, but she is also looking to continue this into 2025. Thank you so much Leah for your continued support.

Rotary Club donation
We want to say a big thank you to the Rotary Club in Normanton who have kindly donated two robotic cats.

Pavers Foundation
The Pavers Foundation gave us a generous donation of £1,600, in addition to the same amount given to us in June. Their total amount of £3,200 helped to buy us a Recliner Chair as part of our appeal from earlier in the year.

Precision Engineers
Just before Christmas, Precision Engineers in Pontefract presented us with £520. Part of this money came from the company swear jar, and the rest was generously donated by the company's employees.
