Fundraising highlights: August's incredible community support

August has been another fantastic month of generosity and support, with our local community coming together to raise vital funds for our cause. Each fundraising effort has played a crucial role in helping us continue to provide compassionate care and support to our patients and their families.

Here, we celebrate some of the fundraising highlights from August.

Smithson Avenue
Thank you so much to the residents of Smithson Avenue (in Castleford) for holding a fantastic fundraising day. Their fundraising efforts included a raffle, cake stalls and other fundraising events. Together, they raised an incredible £622 for The Prince of Wales Hospice, showing the power of community. Thank you all!
 
Notcutts Garden Centre
Notcutts Garden Centre in Pontefract have raised a brilliant £1,425.31 for us through carrier bag sales. This continues the excellent support given by Notcutts, which includes hosting the Tuesday Coffee & Chat Drop-In sessions run by our Wellbeing Team. Thank you to all the staff at Notcutts!
 
TF Morritt Funeral Directors
After opening a new branch in Featherstone, the team at TF Morritt attended the Featherstone Gala. They had a fundraising stall with a tombola, from which they raised £354.59 and kindly donated to our Hospice. Thank you to everyone involved!
 
Crown Garden Centre & Nursery
Crown Garden Centre & Nursery kindly donated a box of grass seed for us. This is to use where the marquee ruined the grass after the Spring Fair. Thank you!
 
George Pugh
George Pugh completed five marathons in five days, starting in Northumberland on 21 August and finishing in Pontefract on 25 August. He ran three of these and cycled the other two. He is splitting the money raised equally between five different charities, including our Hospice. His total funds raised were £1,325, which means £265 for the Hospice. Thank you, George!
 
Pontefract Races Bucket Collection
We raised £459.94 at the Pontefract Races Bucket Collection on 18 August. Thank you to everyone who was there and donated!
