Fundraising highlights: April's incredible community support
As always, there were some truly inspiring fundraising stories over the last month.

A huge thank you to everyone who raised money for us in April. Under 30% of our funding is provided by the NHS, so we are only able to operate because of all your generous fundraising and donations.

Here are some of April’s highlights:

Annabelle Amiss
Annabelle raised £669.50 after taking on the mighty Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge with her father, Tony, and family friend, Sarah.

The sixteen-year-old from Barnsley completed the challenge in memory of her grandmother, Vivienne Joy Cranswick, who was a patient at the Hospice. Annabelle said she supported us because she felt the care we gave Vivienne deserved recognition, and she wanted to give something back. Thank you so much, Annabelle!

Eve and Oliver
£117 was raised by Eve and Oliver from Pontefract Marlins A.S.C. They raised this by making up and raffling an Easter Basket full of lovely chocolate goodies. Thanks, Eve and Oliver!

Harold Box
Harold Box came in with a donation of £750 from the funeral of his late wife, Christine, who spent her final hours here at The Hospice and sadly died on 14 March 2024. Thank you to Harold and everyone who donated.

HealthNet Homecare
The staff at HealthNet Homecare had a fancy-dress day at work and raised £150 for our Hospice. Thank you to all the staff!

Scoot De Hospice
The popular Scoot De Hospice event took place on Sunday 28 April and raised £300 through donations and raffle ticket purchases. Michelle Grainger, who runs Michelle’s Flowers, organised this event. Thank you so much to Michelle and everyone who participated.

Michael Harle
Michael completed the Adidas Manchester Marathon on 14 April and raised £445 in sponsorship for us. Thank you, Michael!

The Old Grocers
The Old Grocers pub donated £362, which was raised from quiz nights. Thanks to The Older Grocers and all the quizzers!

Henry Boot
The property development business company Henry Boot donated £250 to the Hospice. Phil James, the depot manager, came in to give the donation. Thanks to everyone at Henry Boot!
