Challenge complete! Challenge complete!

Last month, we shared with you Steve’s challenge which was to run 5km every day in February!

We caught up with him this week after he’d given his legs a well-deserved rest to talk about his success, fundraising total and what’s in the pipeline for the year ahead.

The first thing we wanted to know was what is it like to complete 152.2km in just 28 days, we’re tired even thinking about it!

Steve said; ‘It was tougher going than I thought with the weather doing its level best to stop me. One minute it was blowing a gale and lashing down with rain and the next we had over six inches of snow and then the resulting ice. Whatever the weather threw at me though I was determined to finish and finish I did.’

We’re thrilled that Steve’s perseverance paid off and he has almost reached his £1,000 fundraising goal, with his employer, Motorpoint, very generously match funding the amount.

‘I really couldn't be more appreciative of the people that have donated. It means the world and makes all the aches and pains worth it. Motorpoint, for whom I work, have also pledged to match fund what I've raised which I'm first to admit brought a tear to my eye.’

The challenge has spurred Steve on to continue fundraising for the Hospice, which we are extremely grateful for. We love that he has found such a passion for running.

'I took a rest for a couple of days after finishing the challenge, but by the third day I was back out in my Nikes again. I've definitely got the bug and won't stop running anytime soon. I'm in the process of signing up to do a couple of 10k runs this year in aid of the Hospice. The ultimate would be to do a half marathon.’

Thank you Steve for all your support, we can’t wait to hear about your next challenge!
