Asda Glasshoughton team took on 280 feet abseil challenge
Seven colleagues from Asda Glasshoughton store braved the highest building in Leeds to raise much needed funds for the Hospice.

The store's community champion Jill Uttley registered first for the challenge and was joined later by her husband Simon and her colleagues from the store, Gemma, Rachel, Johnny, Belinda, Kat and Clare.

Jill explained:

‘The more people found out about the event, the more got involved. One colleague wanted to do something exciting to mark her 50th birthday, the other wanted to make up for a lost opportunity. Overall, we all were up for the challenge. We had never done something like this before, getting out of our comfort zones to raise money for a good cause.’

‘On that morning I was really nervous. I was sitting on the edge, at the top of the building and I looked down from 280 feet. I said to myself, do not think, just do it. I swallowed my fear, flipped on my stomach and started descending down. I think everybody felt nervous but nobody thought to back out and let the team and the Hospice down.’

‘We asked people to sponsor us to raise money for The Prince of Wales Hospice. The team has raised around £1,300. Asda will match this amount, so it will be doubled to support the Hospice.’

‘My colleagues are asking now what we are going to do next. We are always up for a challenge and mainly because it is for a good cause, to support patients and their families when they need it most.’

We thank to Asda Glasshouton team for their support.
