Artist donates his paintings to thank for care
Andrew Morrisroe was transferred to our Hospice from Pinderfields Hospital for symptom management. He had never been to the Hospice before and like many others was very apprehensive about why he was being moved here.

However, he quickly settled in and was enjoying chats with the nurses. Andrew told us he loved his garden and being outside, but hadn’t been outdoor for nine months apart from being taken to hospital. Our physiotherapist, Suzanne got Andrew outside in the Hospice grounds, so he could enjoy the beautiful garden. He and his family had a mini picnic in the garden and he even helped us with watering the plants.

Andrew is a keen artist and has been the chairman of the Pontefract and Pinderfields Art Club. He always has his bag packed with art supplies so on his many trips to hospital he has something to occupy his time.

We have been very fortunate that Andrew has very kindly donated three of his pictures to help raise funds for the Hospice. The first picture, a beautiful acrylic snow scene was raffled at our Summer Fair and raised £300. The other two paintings were part of a raffle at our golf event, which raised £488. Andrew didn’t forget our colleagues on the ward either, he painted them a beautiful water colour.

Andrew has gone home but has told us he would be in touch and hoped to come and visit.

We would like to say thank you to Andrew for donating his wonderful paintings which will raise vital funds for hospice care.
