Another step towards being an environmentally sustainable organisation
We are pleased to announce that we have taken another step towards environmental sustainability by leasing an electric van. This will be used to transport equipment to fundraising events and for The Caring Kitchen, our commercial catering team, to deliver food.

Our new electric van is better for the environment than a conventional van, primarily because it produces zero tailpipe emissions, reducing air pollution. It can also be powered by electricity generated from renewable sources, further lowering its carbon footprint compared to conventional vehicles that use fossil fuels.

In addition to the environmental benefits, the van is also cost effective. Our solar panels – which we invested in last year – are used to charge the van, saving us money on fuel. Plus, the van's larger capacity compared to our current transport car will result in fewer trips to events, leading to additional cost savings.

Samantha Calvert, our Director of Finance said: “Helping patients and their families has always been our primary mission, but we are also conscious of the need to be environmentally sustainable in how we care and fundraise. This is another step on that road towards sustainability, and so we are delighted to use the electric van.

“Having a larger vehicle than we previously used has also made transporting equipment for events and food for catering much more effective, which is a big advantage for us in raising income for the Hospice.”
