Ackworth PramFest 2022
Ackworth PramFest has been another huge success! The local community came together for a fun-filled day in aid of our Hospice.

The PramFest is an annual event where competitors push a pram, containing a team member, around the village as fast as they can, stopping off at the pubs along the way! Teams GO BIG with their costumes and pram designs, this year we had Power Rangers, Luscious Laundry Ladies and even the Royal family dropped by!

Supporters lined the streets to the finish line, cheering the teams on as they pushed past. Over 20 teams entered the race and it was ‘Bingley Bunch’ who crossed the finish line first!

Bingley Bunch’s Ella Moxon said “As we are all active runners and members of Ackworth Road Runners who have raised money for Prince of Wales Hospice in the past, it seemed only natural to enter a team into the pram race in the spirit of competition and to promote the club. Ackworth Road Runners is a friendly and inclusive running club for all abilities, meeting weekly for training sessions as well as for races and events during the year. We are always looking to welcome new members! We were named the Bingley Bunch in honour of one of our founder members Ken Bingley who sadly passed away this year. Ken was an accomplished runner and an active promoter of sport and fitness and an inspiration to many of us. He was a regular Marshall at Pontefract Park Run and cheered on the runners from his spot at ‘Kens Corner’ so it seemed only right to try and include him in the day. We all thought the race and the day was brilliantly organised and we had so much fun and can’t wait to enter again next year! thanks to everyone who came out to support us and cheer us on!”

The grounds of Ackworth Cricket Club were filled with stalls, children’s rides and food trucks, ready for an entire afternoon of family fun. There was also live music from Kirsty Carter, Sean King, Michael Scott, Dan Greaves, Nobody’s Special and Scott Phoenix taking the celebration into the evening.

Fundraising Manager Adrian Greenwood said “Everyone should be really proud of this event, from the organising committee to the racers and everyone who came to show their support. There is a real community spirit and it’s really great to be a part of it.”

We want to say a massive thank you to the Ackworth PramFest Committee for organising another successful event all in aid of The Prince of Wales Hospice. We hope to see everyone again next year!
