Make a Difference This Giving Tuesday – Ways You Can Support Our Hospice
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement that was created in 2012 as a simple idea: to set aside a day that encourages people to do good by giving back.
Here are some of the different ways people can give back to our Hospice. Giving back doesn’t just have to be a monetary donation, there are lots of ways to support our mission and allow us to care for the local community.

The Caring Kitchen
We offer a professional catering service with The Caring Kitchen that can provide food for any occasion, from large parties to corporate events. No event is too large or too small.
The profits from The Caring Kitchen and their delicious dishes enable us to continue providing compassionate palliative care to patients, ensuring comfort and dignity at the end of life.
The Caring Kitchen takes pride in using locally sourced ingredients when possible, cooked to perfection by our experienced chefs.
Whether you’re seeking a sandwich platter, afternoon tea box, or wedding catering, please consider using The Caring Kitchen and supporting our Hospice.

Volunteer
Giving isn’t just about making a donation; it’s about making a difference.
Volunteering is a fulfilling way of giving back to the community, as well as connecting with new people, gaining skills and having fun!
We offer a variety of volunteer roles to suit your schedule, whether you want to commit to certain days every week, or just a few hours here and there. Whether you’d be interested in fundraising, reception, retail or catering, we have opportunities to suit everyone.
A large percentage of our income comes from fundraising events throughout the year, and many of these events would not be able to go ahead without the support from our volunteers.

Shops
We're always looking for donations of unwanted items to support our shops.
In 2022, the community donated 77,896 bags of items to our shops, which generated £1,318,760 in sales. This funded eight patient rooms for the entire year, including nursing, doctors, catering and housekeeping.
It also prevented 623 tonnes of unwanted items going to landfill, helping give back to the planet too.
The next time you have a declutter, please consider donating to our shops and help us maintain our vital services.

Light Up a Life
Christmas is a time when we remember our loved ones, and Light up a Life provides an opportunity for families and friends to remember those no longer with us.
Every single donation, no matter how big or small, makes a huge difference to our patients and their families. Your gifts will ensure their comfort and wellbeing this Christmas.
We have three services of remembrance in December, which are wonderful opportunities to join together and reflect on memories of loved ones.

Donate
Our specialist care is completely free of charge, but we couldn’t do it without your help. Through our shops, The Caring Kitchen, events, donations and other fundraising initiatives, we need to raise over £3million each year to continue our important work.
Just £20 could cover the cost of an Incare bed for an hour, including nursing, doctors, catering and housekeeping.
There are many different ways to donate, from hosting a fundraising event, to leaving a gift in your Will, or playing the Local Hospice Lottery.

Spreading the Word
One impactful way you can support our Hospice this Giving Tuesday is by spreading the word about who we are and what we do.
When more people understand how we care for the community, it allows us to reach more patients and families who need our services.

We are sincerely grateful to all our supporters – anyone who has ever donated, volunteered their time, or hosted or attended a fundraising event, as well as everyone who likes, comments, and shares our posts.
The Prince of Wales Hospice has been providing compassionate care to the local community for over 30 years and it’s thanks to our supporters that we can continue to give patients and families compassion during the most difficult times.
