Spotlight on our volunteers - Meet Monica
From 1-7 June, we are celebrating Volunteers' Week to recognise the essential work of volunteers and to say thanks to them. During this week, we are shining a spotlight on their amazing work. Meet Monica, our fantastic volunteer and friend.

Monica has been a volunteer in our Fitzwilliam charity shop for 16 years. She has been working mainly alongside Louise, the shop manager for all this time. They have formed an amazing friendship providing support for each other through good, bad, happy and sad times.

Prior to working for the hospice Monica was a college lecturer for 20 years. She originally started out in the Civil Service training as a tax officer. From there she became a personal tax consultant. Her employments have ensured she has excellent communication skills, a must for working in the shop. She is liked and respected by her colleagues and customers.

Monica has two sons, Matthew and Paul, and a daughter-in-law Chloe. She also has four step-grandchildren Alyssa, Harrison, Belle and Aaria. In her spare time, Monica is a member of the Ackworth Community Choir attending weekly rehearsals and performing in local concerts throughout the year. She also spends many hours at Nostell Priory walking her beloved dog, Archie.

Some very special memories of her time with the Hospice are meeting Prince Charles at the Hospice, visiting Clarence House and attending the Queens Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.

We want to say thank you to Monica for all the 16 years of volunteering and friendship.
