Fluid Water Solutions team take on 140 mile bike ride for the Hospice!

Wednesday, 23 October 2019
From everyone here at the Hospice, we would like to say a huge well done to Dan and six of his friends and work colleagues from Fluid Water Solutions for completing a mammoth bike ride to raise £2,280 for The Prince of Wales Hospice.

We caught up with Dan, and some of the other cyclists who joined him, to find out a little more about the fundraising.

Dan, Lee, Jonathan, Jack, Eric and Ryan successfully completed a bike ride from Liverpool to Leeds on the canal route, a well-known, popular route, in aid of the Hospice.

Dan embarked on the challenge as part of his 40th birthday celebrations and it didn’t take much to convince the rest of his friends to join him.

We asked Dan how he managed to convince his friends to take on the whopping 127 mile route, and he explained, it was easy because they all enjoyed cycling. He said; “Some of us do a bit of mountain biking for fun and some of us do a bit of road biking, we’re all cyclists really, just in different forms.”

Speaking about the challenge, Dan told us the team trained a lot before hand. He said; “We completed it over two days, it was harder than what we expected, not the distance, it was the terrain that you were on.” Dan said the group got lost a few times, so ended up completing 140 miles, even more commendable, and tiring!

Dan went on to explain why he chose to support the Hospice; “I know people that’s been cared for here and we couldn’t think of a better charity. We’ve exceeded our target, we expected to raise around £1,000 and we’ve more than doubled it.”

Dan would like to thank his employer, Fluid Water Solutions for supporting his fundraising and contributing a sizeable donation. He encourages other fundraisers to tell their employers about their charitable work, as many companies will match fund, helping to raise even more funds.
