Chelsie Cookson took on the London Marathon in aid of The Prince of Wales Hospice. Chelsie Cookson took on the London Marathon in aid of The Prince of Wales Hospice.
Chelsie gained her spot in the London Marathon through her running club, Savvy Park Runrz and has raised an incredible amount of money to go towards patient care.

She said: “The Prince of Wales Hospice was where we said goodbye to my Grandma. In her last few days the care that she received there was amazing. The staff didn't only look after her but my family as well to allow us to say goodbye.”

On Sunday, 23 April, Chelsie joined over 50,000 people in the streets of London to take on this iconic event, and has raised an amazing £1,016 for our Hospice.

Chelsie said: “After months of cold weather training, and a very rainy morning in London, I was stood on the start line doubting everything! As soon as we set off the nerves calmed and before I knew it the atmosphere and crowds were carrying me around London. I met some amazing people on the way around and London marathon was really a day I will never forget!

“I kept getting amazing messages on my phone reminding me I have to do this and people have sponsored me. I crossed the finish line in a time of 5hrs 17 minutes, getting across and getting my medal knowing it was over, was so overwhelming. I had made everyone that had sponsored me proud, it was worth the blisters. I couldn’t have done this without the support of my running club Savvy Park Runrz, they won me my place and supported me though my training.”

We’d like to thank Chelsie and everyone who made a donation for their wonderful support so we can continue to help local patients and their families.
