Tour de Cas!
From completing our Cyclothon to climbing the Yorkshire Three Peaks, our supporters never fail to amaze us by pushing themselves to the limit to support our Hospice. Cancer survivor, Glyn Jepson, is no exception…

On Sunday, 29 May 2022 Glyn will be cycling around 900 miles, from The Mend-A-Hose Jungle in Castleford to Stade Ernest-Wallon in Toulouse, to raise money for The Prince of Wales Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.

In 2021, Glyn was diagnosed with cancer of the stomach and oesophagus. A year on from his diagnosis, after enduring chemotherapy and a five-hour surgery, Glyn wants to prove that there is “life in the old dog yet”.

He explained:

“I came across people who struggled with their cancer treatments and I want to show that it is not the end of the world and inspire them to have a bit of hope that life is not over after all that.”

Glyn plans to cycle 60 miles per day over two weeks, which will see him arrive in Toulouse to see his favourite team and long-time Hospice supporters, the Castleford Tigers, play in the Super League on Sunday, 12 June 2022.

Hoping to raise a massive £10,000 to split between the two charities, Glyn told us about why he wants to raise money for local patients at the Hospice.

“I have my own domiciliary care company, and it seemed a good fit to partner with the Hospice. They look after terminally ill people, other people in the community and in the Hospice itself. It just rings true with what I am doing at work myself.”

“If anyone is also willing to lend a hand in support with the logistics or any other support which would help achieve my goal, please do get in touch.”

We want to wish Glyn the best of luck in completing this inspirational challenge!

You can donate to Glyn’s ‘Tour de Cas’ challenge on his JustGiving page, and follow his journey on Facebook, and Twitter.
