Sam and Claire do The Yorkshire Three Peaks in May

The Yorkshire Three Peaks route is 24 miles (38.6km), and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent. We hope to take on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres) Whernside (736 metres) Ingleborough (723 metres), in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

About Sam and Claire do The Yorkshire Three Peaks in May

We have never walked the 3 peaks before but are doing so with The Prince of Wales Hospice who provide palliative care and support for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones. They offer 1. 13 patient beds providing specialist inpatient care to manage pain and symptoms during the advanced stages of patients’ illnesses; 2. an outreach service running three days a week in the community, providing various forms of support (including activities to participate in and professional social work support) for individuals with terminal illnesses who live at home; 3. a bereavement service providing resources, structured group / one to one support and fully trained counselling; 4. support for all hospice services from a multi-disciplinary team including a physiotherapist, a spiritual lead, a complementary therapist, clinicians, nurses, activities coordinator and a social worker. This team serves both inpatients and within the community during outreach 5. specialist weekly lymphoedema clinics in Dewsbury, Pontefract and Wakefield. As the only local provision for this painful swelling condition, demand is high. The trained team offer comprehensive help with skincare, infection control, exercise, fluid drainage techniques and weight management and 6. education, advice, and training aimed at increasing end of life care knowledge and skills amongst health care professionals in and out of the Hospice. We really appreciate your support to help us reach our target that will contribute to the costs of running the Hospice. https://www.strava.com/athletes/11824607 https://www.strava.com/athletes/52513499
