Tesco Bags of Help - vote for the Hospice!

Help the Hospice bag a massive cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.

We won! Thank you to everyone who voted for us!

Look at the wonderful furniture we now have in the garden.

What is the scheme?

Tesco's Bags of Help scheme offers community groups a share of the money generated from the 5p carrier bag charge. We won £4,000 in last year's vote. A big thank you to everyone who voted in the Pontefract and Castleford Tesco stores.

How a Bags of Help grant has helped

With Bags of Help funding, we've been able to buy a gazebo with patio furniture, providing shelter close to the main building. In addition, we;ve bought tables and chairs for use around the grounds  for use by patients and their families.

Amanda Darley, Facilities Manager said:“These new seating areas will encourage patients and visitors to make the most of our wonderful gardens, which offer calm and tranquility at what can be a time of great stress and upset.”

Fresh air and the outdoors can be so beneficial for patients' well-being. The Hospice has extensive grounds, incorporating flower beds and borders, tree-lined paths, seating areas, bird feeding and nesting areas, an allotment, greenhouse and celebration pavers (many in memory of former patients). All Incare bedrooms have direct access to the gardens and there is also a newly refurbished patio area directly from the newly refurbished garden room.
