Giving in memory

It is always difficult losing someone close to you.But you can leave a lasting tribute to a loved one
by making a donation to the Hospice in their memory.  The names of everyone remembered in this
way  are added to our Book of Remembranceand we’ll be pleased to send you a special thank you card.

Remembering a special occasion

If your donation is to mark a special occasion, such as a birthday or wedding anniversary, you may leave a message in our Forget Me Not Book. This book is on permanent display in the Hospice.

We will also send you a special card containing forget-me-not seeds for you to plant in your garden. Once grown, these beautiful flowers will be a lasting memory of your loved one, helping you remember the times you shared together.

Donations in lieu of funeral flowers

Rather than requesting funeral flowers as a tribute to your loved one, you may want to consider asking people to make a donation to the Hospice instead. We can provide you with discreet donation envelopes, for distribution at the funeral or wake and the memory of your loved one will continue in the inspirational care we provide.

Celebration pavers

The Hospice was built by supporters like you ‘buying a brick’. Today, you can be an important part of our future by sponsoring a celebration paver, to be engraved with your own message*. Your paver will be laid in our beautiful gardens, the perfect setting for you to celebrate the life of someone special or simply show your support.

You can sponsor a paver from £75 for a brick-shaped paver with a short message, to £1250 for a stone paver featuring the Hospice feathers and your own engraved message. Please be aware that 50% of your payment will cover the cost of the paver, and the remaining 50% will be treated as a donation to the Hospice, which can be gift aided where applicable.

To sponsor a paver, please download and complete this form. You will be able to select the style of paver and your engraved message.  Simply return your form with your payment to the Hospice. New pavers are laid twice a year – in spring and autumn.

* Please note: Our Celebration Pavers are just that - pavers to celebrate life. We cannot accept strongly memorial messages or dates. Names are very welcome however.

Remembering someone at Christmas

With our annual Light up a Life appeal you can dedicate a light on the Hospice Christmas trees to the memory of someone who can’t be with you at Christmas. The appeal is launched each autumn.

The names of those remembered are listed in the Pontefract and Castleford Express and the Hemsworth and South Elmsall Express in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Names are also included in our Light up a Life Book of Remembrance, on display at the remembrance services around our district, when the symbolic lights on the Hospice Christmas trees are illuminated.
