Catering Volunteer

Job Role

Volunteers work in a small busy team to help prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold meals for patients, visitors, staff and volunteers.  Catering volunteers also help out with washing up and cleaning duties.

No special skills are required.  All new volunteers are given an induction when they start along with on the job training and supervision to help them settle into their role.

Volunteer applicants should have good interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and possess empathy with the work of the Hospice.

Ideally volunteers are asked to commit to helping on a regular basis, typically a morning or an afternoon each week.

How to apply

To apply for this role, please download and complete a Volunteer Application Form.  It will be reviewed by the Catering Manager and if appropriate you will be invited to the Hospice for an informal interview.

Before you can start volunteering we undertake Occupational Health screening and you will be asked to complete an Occupational Health questionnaire. You will also be asked to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service check (previously known as a Criminal Records Bureau check).  In addition two character references will be sought once occupational health clearance has been gained.

All volunteers are required to attend annual training updates on fire, health & safety and moving and handling.
