Nigel's dream come true to meet Castleford Tigers!
Our nurses are passionate about giving the best care, listening, understanding the patients and trying to brighten their days up while staying with us at the Hospice - and they certainly did for Nigel Sutton, a patient on our Incare

An engineer by trade, Nigel has always been a big fan of rugby. He was also a player at Wakefield and he has been a big supporter of Castleford Tigers.

While he was being looked after on our ward, the nurses picked up on his big wish to meet the Castleford Tigers. Jill Kirkham, Fundraising Manager explained:

“The Hospice and the rugby club have a great partnership and when I approached them they were happy to help.”

On a Friday afternoon, Nigel’s dream came true. He was visited by his local heroes from Castleford Tigers, Head Coach, Lee Radford and players, James Claire and Callum McLelland. Nigel was wearing his club shirt with pride.

The visit was full of laughter and great banter between the players and Nigel. A photo was printed out so it could be signed for Nigel as a souvenir of the visit. Jo Benson, Ward Manager said:

“It was an amazing afternoon for all of us. Seeing the smile on Nigel’s face made everybody’s day.”

We are extremely grateful to Lee, James and Callum for them taking time to visit Nigel and proud to be charity partners with Castleford Tigers.
