Starlight Walk fundraising stars!

Friday, 19 July 2019
It’s just a few short weeks before the return of our Starlight Walk and the excitement is building. We simply can’t decide whether we are going to go head-to-toe neon, or if we fancy pink tutus and bunny ears!

Carol, along with a team of colleagues from Dr Singh and Partners, Church View Health Centre took on the walk last year and raised an incredible £1,163! We caught up with Carol recently to find out about her fantastic fundraising. She told us;

"My close friend and colleague Katie, saw the promotion and asked if I wanted to do it in memory of my mum. I have worked at the surgery for over 25 years and a lot of the staff knew my mum and they all offered to support me and take part, or make a donation."

The Hospice cared for Carol’s mum on its Incare ward in June 2018, before she sadly passed away on July 8 2018. Carol describes the care her mum received as very special and says she can’t thank the staff enough for making her mums last few weeks meaningful.

Talking about the Starlight Walk, Carol said; "it was really nice being together as a team for a worthy cause. We just had a good time and everyone supported one another, especially me because I had only just lost my mum."

"The Hospice and the staff are the inspiration, at the surgery we all know only too well the care and dedication that is given to the patients and families who use it."

As we said goodbye to Carol, we asked her whether she’ll be talking part in this year’s event, she said; "Absolutely, let’s do it again and have some fun whilst raising money for a wonderful, heart-warming reason."
