Forget me not success!

Wednesday, 28 August 2019
Here at the Hospice, we are thrilled to announce the success of our brand new summer appeal – forget me not flowers.
Similar to the poppies displayed at the Tower of London, the beautiful iron flowers were commissioned by The British Ironwork Centre, and featured in a stunning display over the summer in the Hospice gardens.
Hospice supporter, Julie Keenan jumped at the chance to dedicate her flower in memory of her brother, Liam, who died last year after a very short illness.  Liam’s stay at the Hospice gave him comfort, peace and serenity in difficult and uncertain times.  He loved the Hospice garden and his family have fond memories of the time they all spent together there.  It seemed fitting to dedicate a forget me not flower in those very same gardens.
Julie explains “Dedicating a forget-me-not is a special, apt and lasting tribute to Liam; to remember and celebrate his life, whilst supporting an amazing and worthy cause. I can't praise the staff at The Prince of Wales Hospice highly enough for their support, care and compassion.”
Over 400 flowers were dedicated throughout the appeal to remember loved ones, or simply to celebrate the fantastic work of the Hospice, raising an incredible £6,600 to support patient care.

Hospice fundraiser, Anne Giblin explains; "We were delighted to be able to offer these stunning keepsakes in our anniversary year.  They are a lovely way to remember those no longer with us, or to commemorate the wonderful care the Hospice has provided over the last 30 years. Our beautiful Hospice gardens were the perfect setting for the forget me nots, and it was fantastic to see how much the flowers meant to those who came along to see them. Thank you to everyone who has dedicated a flower, and to Junction 32 for supporting this appeal – it has made an extra special difference in this, our 30thanniversary year.”
