Knitting for Charity
The Prince of Wales Hospice knows how generous knitters are, and that many of you already knit for charity. We also know that knitting is a great way to spend your time and can often bring groups together.
Although we don't hold a knitting for charity event at the Hospice, that doesn’t mean you can’t arrange your own event.
The Prince of Wales Hospice would love to help you in setting up and running your own charity knitting event to help you raise much needed funds.
Who can knit for charity?
Charity knitting can be done by anyone, whether it is a school class crocheting pictures to sell to their family or expert knitters creating masterpieces to auction.
If you belong to one of the following groups then why not consider knitting for the Hospice for your next charity event.
- After School Club
- Mums and Tots group
- Coffee morning groups
- Church and parish groups
- Guides, brownies, cubs and scout groups
- Day care centres
- Rotary clubs
- Anyone – old, young, novice or experienced.
Charity Knitting Ideas
Sponsored knitting for charity is a great way to raise money for the Prince of Wales Hospice. We receive limited funding from the NHS and so we rely on your donations. 7 out of 10 of our patients rely on your donations for the care they need.
There are a number of ways knitters could raise funds.
If you want to knit for charity and are stuck for ideas then why not try one of the following:
- Knit the Prince of Wales Hospice Logo
- Knit a Crown
- Knit a Corgi (or other animal)
- Knit a seasonal item (Christmas baubles, Halloween decorations, Easter bunnies, etc)
- Anything you can imagine
Once you have decided on what to knit you may need some ideas on where to sell your items to raise the money for charity. How about these:
- A car boot sale
- An auction
- A raffle
- Bring and Buy
- Coffee Morning
- Table top sale
- Any local events
Now you have the audience, the charity knitting idea and the event you just need to get yourself a charity fundraising pack, which can be downloaded here.
