Ideas for schools and youth groups

Schools certainly put the “fun” into fundraising! Raising funds for The Prince of Wales Hospice through your school can make a real difference, and it needn’t be difficult.

Many schools adopt the hospice Charity of the Year, or one of their charities, to benefit from the proceeds of regular fundraising.

Others organise their own fundraising activities specially for the hospice:

  • Non-uniform day is a regular favourite. Children (and teachers!) pay £1 to come in normal clothes, fancy dress, or dressed along a particular theme, such as all in yellow or wearing wellies.
  • Sponsored events are also popular, from a sponsored silence to a sponsored spell. You could have a sponsored event like a music or sports marathon, where teams of people keep an activity going for 24 hours or more in relay. Why not try to break a record too?!
  • Entertaining events, like talent shows, Stars in Your Eyes (musical impressions), a choral or classical music concert, a disco, carol singing, karaoke are a great end-of-term fundraiser. Why not partner with another school for your event, or challenge them to see who can raise the most?
  • Help in the community. Offer your services, car washing or bag packing in return for donations.

We can supply sponsor forms, posters, balloons, stickers and much more to make your event a success. For more information, or to tell us about your event, e-mail or call 01977 708868.

Ideas for pubs and clubs

Pubs and clubs are amongst the biggest supporters of the hospice. Generous customers and members have helped raised tens of thousands of pounds for the hospice over the years, many adopting the hospice year after year for the proceeds of their fundraising events.

  • Race-nights are a sure-fire way to involve everyone in the fundraising. Local companies sponsor each race, customers buy the horses and jockeys, and everyone else can place their bets. When the video rolls on the big screen, and people start shouting for their horse you can be sure of a good night.
  • Entertaining events, like talent shows, Stars in Your Eyes (musical impressions), a cabaret or comedy night, a promise auction or a slave auction are great fundraisers. Or why not do something a bit different, like a hog-roast or a beer festival?
  • Sponsored events: Encourage a couple of your regulars to commit to doing something daring – like sitting in a bath of beer or having their chest waxed! – and help them collect sponsorship.
  • The old favourites: a bottle on the bar (or a collecting tin!), a raffle, a quiz, bingo.

We can supply posters, tickets, sponsor forms, collection tins, t-shirts and raffle prizes. We can also put you in touch with great entertainers and suppliers we have used before, and will help you try to get some press coverage for your event.

For more information, or to tell us about your event, e-mail or call 01977 708868.
