Our volunteers are of all ages and come from a variety of backgrounds. No matter what the reason, volunteering in an excellent way to meet new people and make friends.
We care continually looking for volunteers. Volunteers are welcomed from all walks of life, as you will have many skills and experience to bring to the Hospice
Volunteering opportunities vary depending where we have vacancies, but may include:
Catering:
Preparing and serving meals, plus washing up, of course!
Housekeeping:
Ironing, dusting and vacuuming our homely hospice.
Reception:
First point of contact for visitors, in person and by telephone, as well as basic administration duties.
Clinical Services:
Volunteers are welcome to work alongside our nursing teams in both Incare and in Day Therapy . This may involve assisting with activities such as crafts, baking, gardening and also assisting patients with meals.
We also need volunteers who have complementary therapy experience and qualifications to enhance our existing complementary therapy service. In addition, we would also welcome additional volunteer ward clerks to work with a small number of volunteers who give their time to help on the mainly the Incare unit of the Hospice .
Gardening:
Seasonal work pruning, weeding and planting.
Fundraising:
Occasional help at hospice and community events, membership of support groups organising their own fundraising and administrative support in the fundraising team.
Shops:
Ideally volunteers are asked to commit to helping on a regular basis, typically a morning or an afternoon each week. However, we are very flexible for those who would like to put in more time or less.
