    Eligibility

The Prince of Wales Hospice improves the quality of life for people with a life-limiting illness. We provide specialist care and support for our patients, and also for their families and friends – who often need us just as much.

Patients with malignant or non-malignant disease are eligible for hospice care including patients with cancer, chronic lung or heart disease or a neurological disease. We also care for people with lymphoedema.

Patients are admitted to Incare if they have physical, psychological, social or spiritual needs which are complex, including end of life care.

Respite care can be offered where a patient’s needs are complex and the carer may need to rest in order to be able to continue caring for their relative at home.

For more detailed information on the criteria for admissions to incare, please see our admissions policy.

Day therapy offers support and help to enhance a patient’s quality of life through a 12 week structured programme of care to include education, relaxation and regular assessment of their needs.

We also offer a disease specific group for patients with COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) whereby we help patients manage to live with their illness through a 6 week programme of care.

Patients with primary or secondary lymphoedema can be referred to our clinic and will be assessed by a specialist nurse.

The catchment area for patients is shown on this map. Patients outside this area are usually cared for by one of our neighbouring hospices but could be accommodated by agreement.
